Based in Manchester, the majority of our customers are located in the North West and Peak District, although we serve customers throughout the UK.
Nicola Rogan – MBA FPFS ACII
Director & Chartered Financial Planner
Nicola was brought up in Manchester and has spent much of her career in Financial Services, working for a number of insurance companies, including National Mutual and LV=. Following a successful sales career, she decided to move into the advisory sector and established Mottram Financial Services with Peter. She is qualified and authorised to advise on all aspects of financial planning and is recognised within the industry as an expert in complex pension matters, including final salary pension transfers and auto enrolment.
Nicola is a Fellow of the PFS and has the distinction of being dual qualified as a Chartered Financial Planner and Chartered Insurer.

Peter is originally from Cumbria and moved to Manchester in 1993, when he began working in government relations for one of the region’s biggest businesses. Having enjoyed a successful corporate career he decided to change direction and embarked on a career in Financial Services. Having trained and worked at a number of local advisory practices, he went on to establish Mottram Financial Services with Nicola. He is qualified and authorised to advise on all aspects of financial planning and pension matters. He specialises in wealth management, tax planning and advising owner managed businesses.
Peter is a Chartered Financial Planner, Fellow of the PFS and holds an MBA.
Peter Lawson – ACII CertPFS
Chartered Insurance Practitioner
Peter has lived and worked in and around Manchester all his life. He has spent much of his professional career in Financial Services. He spent 19 years with the Scottish Provident before transferring to the advisory sector when he was invited to establish a financial planning arm for the then Hyde based general insurance broker John Booth & Co. He is qualified and authorised to advise on all aspects of financial planning and over the past 35 years has built an enviable reputation for his expertise in pension matters, including final salary transfers, and advising owner managed businesses.
Peter is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurance Practitioner.
Derek lives in the local area and has worked in the financial services profession for nearly four decades, with experience of both advisory and technical roles. Prior to joining Mottram Financial Services, he worked for a large financial advice network where he was a Compliance and Technical Specialist. He has overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of our busy office, ensuring that our administrative functions operate efficiently, dealing with HR issues and supporting the management team to monitor and maintain regulatory compliance.
Lindsey Thornes – CertPFS
Lindsey has lived and worked in Manchester all her life. Lindsey’s career in financial services began when she joined Standard Life and since leaving them she has specialised in working with financial advisers, providing technical support. Lindsey has already gained the Certificate in Financial Planning and is continuing to work towards her Diploma in Financial Planning. Her role has wide ranging responsibilities, including managing our paraplanning function, analysing client fact finds, researching the market place for appropriate solutions and drafting suitability reports.
Aidan is working towards his Diploma in Financial Planning and has completed a number of professional exams. As a Paraplanner, his duties include report writing and product research, as well as providing administration support. He also helps collate client reviews and construct cashflow reports.
Hazel has previously worked in various administrative roles in legal services and the NHS. She provides general administration support and co-ordinates our back-office systems. Her responsibilities include business submissions and collation of investment reviews.
Linda joined Mottram Financial Services with our acquisition of John Booth & Co. in 2016. Linda has worked in financial services for over 20 years and has wide-ranging experience of providing general administrative support relating to all aspects of financial planning. She offers a calm and efficient service, deals with client queries, and is now working to ensure we provide continuity of service to the former clients of John Booth & Co.
George joined us as after finishing his A-levels and is looking to progress his career in financial services. He is a keen rugby player and also holds the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. As well as providing administration support, he also gathers valuations and helps keep our back-office systems up-to-date.
All our advisers are members of the CII and undertake a structured programme of continuing professional development (CPD) activity to ensure their skills and knowledge are up-to-date.
As independent financial advisers, we are able to recommend products and services from across the market and are not tied to any particular provider.
We operate an explicit charging structure and will agree a fee with you before we commence work. This may either be paid directly by you or deducted from any plans that we arrange on your behalf. If an ongoing service is agreed with you then an ongoing fee will also be levied.
Fees will typically be charged as a fixed fee, an hourly rate, a percentage of funds invested or a combination of one or more of these. We may receive commission payments for arranging some non-investment related financial products.
